Guided Learning Hours
‘Guided Learning Hours’ are the number hours of learning required for each CEFR level under the immediate guidance or supervision of a lecturer, supervisor, tutor or another appropriate provider of education or training.
LanguageCert International ESOL exams are mapped to the CEFR and can therefore be assigned approximate Guided Learning Hours per level. As highlighted by ALTE, the higher the level, the more hours are required to advance. This reflects the continual nature of language learning.
Below are the estimated Guided Learning Hours per CEFR level. Please note that these are estimates of the numbers of hours a candidate is likely to undertake for each level. They are not cumulative estimates across levels.
