A recent LanguageCert study showed that candidates that took their exams with LanguageCert’s online solution with remote live proctoring (OLP) had a positive experience with open-ended responses being four to one in favour of online proctored exams.

LanguageCert, a member of the PeopleCert Group, the global leader in skills assessment, has been offering online proctored exams since 2019, the first in the language qualifications industry to make this innovative delivery method possible.

Last year, the research team at LanguageCert emailed a survey to past LanguageCert candidates who had first-hand experience taking an online proctored exam.

The study, Online Proctoring of High-Stakes English Language Examinations: A Survey of Past Candidates’ Attitudes and Perceptions, asked candidates a wide range of questions about their experiences, covering items from exam preparation to internet security during their examination.

The research team speculated that some of the success of online proctored exams was likely due to our “seamless continuity of test delivery” during the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.

LanguageCert used the unique opportunity it found itself in during the pandemic to continually develop its online exam functionality and options, regularly adding to the list of online exams made available to candidates.

As the pandemic persists into its third year, LanguageCert will continue to securely deliver its trusted online exams with remote live proctoring technology, allowing our candidates to achieve their qualifications despite unfavourable global conditions.

When asked about their “Preference for tests by traditional means (face-to-face) or tests by OLP” most of the responses revealed that candidates preferred taking LanguageCert exams online.

Many agreed that our online exams are a more “personal and more efficient way of taking a test”.

Overall, the answers to the survey identify a bright future for LanguageCert's online exam solution. Responses positively suggest a “broad acceptance” of online proctored exams and indicate a “strong future uptake” of candidates, universities, and partners who will choose this method going forward.
